Disgust
Should come with decay. A stomach should turn
In honor of something humming with flies,
Thrumming with grubs. Rotting is natural, right.
It has been done a disservice. Horror films:
Crypts swollen, maggots in the eye, as if
New life brimming from old life were the worst.

I have seen human limbs
Connected as they shouldn’t be. But with
A glossy sheen. A sanitary blur
Where grubby soul should gleam. A gospel scream
Blended and chopped to sonic slur. No moss
Nor mold approaches for a taste:
No wholesome worm converts it into waste.

Dappled Things

A journal of ideas, art, and faith for those who find that hope springs eternal.
